Awards Provided By James Cook University Brisbane
High Distinction (HD) Academic Award
JCU Brisbane recognises hardworking students by rewarding them
with the High Distinction Busary. International students who
achieve a High Distinction for their subject receive a $A1,000
bursary award, which is placed towards their tuition fee.
Domestic students receive a $A250 award. The HD bursary is
only available at JCU's Brisbane campus.
It is also available only to students enrolled in
afull degree program.
The $A1,000 or $A250 is credited against subsequent subjects at JCU
Brisbane. If a "High Distinction" result is achieved in the
student's final trimester (trimester of graduation), the bursary
will be awarded in the form of cash.
Currently, there is no limit to the number of HD bursaries awarded
each trimester. Should we, in the future, limit the number of HD
bursaries awarded each trimester, then the available HD bursaries
will be awarded on Academic merit.
Students will not receive any form of bursaries in the following circumstances:
- failure to make full payment for ALL enrolled subjects by the appointed Census date for that trimester. Census date is usually five weeks after the commencement of lectures (see Important Dates)
- for subjects for which they are on fee waiver bursaries or scholarships or exchange programs or cross institutional studies.
- for any subject being repeated at JCU Brisbane
- for all subjects if the student is found guilty of "Academic Misconduct" in any subject eg. cheating, plagiarism.
- for all subjects for students who withdraw prior to the completion of their enrolled course.
- transfer to another JCU campus
Tuition Fee Bursary
JCU Brisbane may sometimes offer tuition fee bursaries to international students enrolled in a full degree program.
Students awarded with these tuition fee bursaries need to note that they will not be eligible to these bursaries in any one of the following circumstances:
-
withdrawal from nominated course, or movement to a shorter or cheaper program
-
withdrawal from JCU Brisbane campus
-
transfer to another JCU campus
-
failure to make full payment for ALL enrolled subjects by the appointed Census date for each trimester. Census date is usually five weeks after the commencement of lectures (see Important Dates)
-
for all subjects if the student is found guilty of "Academic Misconduct" in any subject eg. cheating, plagiarism
-
for all subjects for students who withdraw prior to the completion of their enrolled course
These bursaries are only redeemable in the final trimester of studies.
Corporate Discount
Eligible applicants who study any postgraduate programs offered at JCU Brisbane, and whose course is paid for by their corporate entity, will receive a 20% corporate discount off the standard price of the course.
If the student leaves his/her employment, then future fees revert to standard pricing, unless alternative arrangements have been made in accordance with JCU Brisbane policy.
